Tsunami
One of the most powerful natural forces is that of a tsunami. These are the ocean waves caused as a result of massive earthquakes at ocean beds. Tsunami waves travel much faster than regular waves. They occur as multiple waves and are very different from normal ocean waves.
A tsunami coming towards the shore is like a rapidly moving tide that enters inland to a massive extent. If it starts near the coastline, the tsunami can cover communities of the entire coastline within a few minutes. Even a small tsunami of about 6 feet can cause very strong currents that could easily knock an individual off his feet. Always remember that if you are able to see the tsunami, it is already too late to outrun the same. If you see unusual wave activity or feel a strong shaking at the coast, you must move to a higher ground and remain away from the coast.
Tsunamis like the one in 2004 across the Indian Ocean are very dangerous, having caused massive destruction of property and resulted in a huge loss of lives. Smaller tsunamis occur on a regular basis, and we need a base of donations from you to tackle this hydrological disaster.
